David E. Winters, 66, of 4611 State St., Apt. 37, died at 12:24 p.m. Tuesday (July 1, 2014) in Blessing Hospital. He was born April 23, 1948, in Quincy, a son of William and Imogene Crossan Winters. In 1972, he married Sharon Henry in LaGrange, Mo. David served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and earned his Sharpshooter rating while serving. After the war, he served in the Army National Guard for 20 years. He was a member of the American Legion Murray-Stuart Post 566 of Glenolden, Pa., and the Sharon Hill Memorial Post 193 of Folcroft, Pa. David worked for a number of years at Colt Industries as a machinist. In David's spare time, he enjoyed playing golf. Survivors include his parents; a daughter, Jacquelyn (Ernest) Gsell, of Garnet Valley, Pa.; two sons, Michael (Amy) Winters of LaGrange and Stephen Winters of Quincy; seven grandchildren, Natalie, Ernest Jr., Luke, Gabrielle and Victoria Gsell and Zachary and Devyn Winters; two sisters, Linda (Joe) Liston of Staunton and Pam (Tim) Todd of Quincy; and two brothers, Kenny Arrowsmith and Roger Arrowsmith, both of Quincy. David was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma Elaine Winters, and his grandparents. SERVICES: 11 a.m. Saturday, July 5, in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with the Rev. V. Lee Amsler conducting. Burial with military honors by the Payson VFW Post 2061 will be in Greenmount Cemetery. VISITATION: 9 a.m. until time of services Saturday in the funeral home. MEMORIALS: American Legion.
