CLAYTON, Ill. -- Roy "Junior" Junk, 90, of North Adams Home, Mendon, formerly of Clayton, died Wednesday (July 9, 2014) in the home. Born Nov. 21, 1923, in Chili Township, Junior was a son of Roy and Leona Walker Junk. He married Mary Louise Agans in August 1947 in Hancock County. She preceded him in death. He later married Betty J. Angell Tournear Dec. 17, 1998, in Palmyra, Mo. She died Nov. 11, 2003. Mr. Junk was a farmer from the time he was a small child until his retirement in 2010. He raised cattle and hogs most of his life and had cattle in Vivian, S.D., on a buffalo ranch for five years. Farming and livestock were his main enjoyment in life. Junior and his first wife showed quarter horses for many years. He was a member of the Adams County Beef Association and served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Survivors include three stepdaughters, Sherry Tournear of Clayton, Patricia Gilker of Quincy and Connie Woosley of Manor, Texas; a stepson, Michael Tournear (Kayelynn), of Camp Point; two nieces, Cindy Gammon and Cathy Barker, both of Washington; a nephew, Tommy Junk (Donna), of North Dakota; and several great-nieces and nephews. In addition to his two wives, Junior was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Wayne and Gerald Junk; and two stepsons, Gary and Frankie Tournear. SERVICES: 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, in the Lummis Hamilton Funeral Home, Camp Point, with the Rev. Joe Tomich conducting. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Augusta.
