PALMYRA, Mo. -- Karen S. Bent, 65, of Columbia, Mo., formerly of Palmyra, died July 14, 2014, in the Ashley Manor Care Center, Booneville.

Karen was born Sept. 5, 1948, in Quincy, Ill., a daughter of Jesse Lionel and Dorothy M. Wood Bent.

Karen was a 1966 graduate of Palmyra High School. After graduation, she began her banking career at Palmyra State Bank. Later, she moved to Columbia and worked her way up to auditor with the Bank of America. Karen was active with Cosmo service organization in Columbia as well as the Ronald McDonald House charities. She loved to donate her time to benevolent organizations doing service work for others. She had previously served as president of the Lake of the Woods condo complex. She was a former member of First Baptist Church in Palmyra.

Survivors include brother, Craig (Kathy) Bent of Palmyra; aunt, Bonnie Peters, of Quincy; niece, Lindsey Bent, of Palmyra; nephews, Cameron and Austin Bent, of Quincy; and several loving cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Kevin Bent.

SERVICES: 10 a.m. Saturday, July 19, in the Lewis Brothers Fueneral Chapel, Palmyra, with the Rev. Dewayne Larenson conducting. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy.

VISITATION: Visitation will be 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home.

MEMORIALS: Palmyra Nutrition Center.
