Michael Troy Banta, 51, of Quincy, died at 6:22 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2014, in his home. Born on July 15, 1963, in Hannibal, Mo., Michael was a son of Daniel J. and Anna Sue Dickerson Banta. Michael enjoyed watching football and basketball, loved writing and music, and was an animal rights supporter. His greatest love was the time he spent with his family, especially his daughter and granddaughter. A graduate of Payson Seymour High School, Michael earned his LPN certificate at John Wood Community College. He had been employed at Beth Haven Nursing Home in Hannibal, Mo., where he will be remembered for the kindness and gentleness he showed to the residents. Survivors include his mother, Anna Sue Banta of Mendon; a daughter, Rendi Banta Basinger (Shawn) of Ashland, Mo.; a granddaughter, Marli Basinger of Ashland, Mo.; four brothers, Edgar J. Banta (Julie), Christopher N. Banta (Lisa), Derek G. Banta (Robin) and Daniel W. Banta (Joanne); and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Mr. Banta was preceded in death by his father, Daniel. Mr. Banta was cremated. SERVICES: Private family services will be held at a later date.
