RUSHVILLE, Ill. -- Karen Marie Dotson, 67, of Littleton, died at 9:55 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 3, 2014) in the home of her daughter near Littleton. She was born Jan. 4, 1947, in Jacksonville, a daughter of the late Charles and Mary Ann Bradshaw Russell. She married Ira Dotson, Jr. on Nov. 30, 1973, in Jacksonville. He died Aug. 15, 2009. A 1965 graduate of Smiley High School in Houston, Texas, Karen first worked at Capitol Records, Bound to Stay Bound Books and TG&Y in Jacksonville. Following her marriage, she stayed at home to raise her children. She later owned KD Gifts in Littleton for over 20 years, specializing in ceramics. She sold her creations at Spoon River Drive, Argyle Lake and many other craft shows. She was a talented and gifted artist in whatever medium she worked with, from ceramics to sewing and scrapbooking. She would later work for Eagle Communications in Rushville. She loved to read and listen to music, especially the Beatles and Neil Diamond. Surviving are one son, Dustin Dotson and wife, Laura, of Quincy; one daughter, Amanda Runkle and husband, Greg, of Littleton; and four grandchildren, Haley and Lucas Ira Dotson and Gavin and Keaton Runkle. She was preceded in death by her parents. SERVICES: 7 p.m. memorial service Thursday, Aug. 7, in the Wood Funeral Home, Rushville, with Pastor Larry Lindow conducting.
