William R. "Rudy" Claus Obituary
EWING, Mo. -- William R. "Rudy" Claus, 84, of rural Ewing, died Thursday (Aug. 7, 2014) in his home.

Rudy was born Aug. 16, 1929, in Galesburg, Ill., to William Martin and Iza Marie Weiher Claus. He was married to Sarah Matticks Sept. 1, 1951, in Quincy, Ill. She survives of the home.

Mr. Claus was a retired machinist with Awerkamp Machine Co. in Quincy. He had formerly worked at Quincy Compressor Company. Rudy was also a longtime Marion County farmer. He attended the former Iron Bridge Country School in Shelby County, Mo., and later served in U. S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. Rudy was a member of the NEMO Shrine Club, AF & AM Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Boots Dickson Post 174 of the American Legion, and the Norfolk Smith VFW Post 11041. He was a Christian by faith.

Survivors include daughter Deborah Lee Obanion of Shelbina; seven grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter in infancy, Rita Mae Claus; sons William Joseph Claus, Gary Kent Claus and Billy D. Claus; sisters Wilma Summers and Ada Lee Olmstead; brothers Robert Claus and John R. "Dick" Claus; and a great grandson, Patrick Obanion.

SERVICES: A memorial celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

MEMORIALS: may be made to the Community Loving Care Hospice in care of the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel.
