PALMYRA, Mo. -- Jacqueline Michelle "Jackie" Boulware, 49, of Palmyra, died Tuesday (Aug. 12, 2014) in her home. Jackie was born June 8, 1965, in Quincy, Ill., to Jack and Donna Hoenes Thornburg. She was married to Daniel "Danny" Spencer Boulware Nov. 10, 1990, in Zion Lutheran Church in Palmyra. He survives of the home. Jackie was a 1983 graduate of Palmyra High School. She was an all-state basketball performer who was part of the 1981 state basketball championship team as well as the 1983 second place team. In addition, she was an all-state track medalist and state tennis qualifier during her high school years. She received her undergraduate degree in health sciences from Northeast Missouri State University. During her college basketball career, she lettered in basketball all four years and is one of the top 20 all-time leading rebounders at the university. Mrs. Boulware was a nutritionist and breast feeding coordinator for the Lewis County and Monroe County Health Departments. She worked diligently with the WIC program, assisting parents in caring for their new babies. She loved to devote her time in caring for and nurturing others. Jackie treasured coaching girls basketball when her daughter was younger. She was an enthusiastic sports fan who loved to watch her children, and her community, participate in athletics. Among her many hobbies, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, puzzles and spending time on the beach. She was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church in Palmyra. Survivors include daughter Danielle Boulware of Columbia; son Brock Boulware of the home; parents Jack and Donna Thornburg of Palmyra; sister Jodi Garner and husband, Steve, of Palmyra; brother Clay Thornburg of St. Charles; father-in-law Ernie Boulware of Palmyra; sister-in-law Diane Boulware of Quincy; as well as two loving nieces, a nephew and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Jim and Martha Thornburg as well as Paul and Ithema Hoenes. SERVICES: A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 15, in Zion Lutheran Church in Palmyra with the Rev. David Johnson conducting. VISITATION: 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, in the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel, Palmyra. MEMORIALS: May be made to her children's education fund in care of Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel.
