CLAYTON, Ill. -- Lucille Harris, 90, of Jacksonville, formerly of Clayton, died at 9:35 a.m. Tuesday (July 10, 2012) in Passavant Area Hospital, Jacksonville. Born Dec. 20, 1921, in Adams County, Lucille was a daughter of Henry and Rose Lierly Cutforth. She married Wilford "Ossie" Harris Dec. 20, 1941, in Palmyra. He died Feb. 21, 1975. Lucille joined the Baptist church at age 12. At that time, she also started walking to neighbors always looking to lend them a hand. She continued to enjoy helping others throughout her life. Mrs. Harris held many jobs throughout her life and found it very rewarding to care for elderly people later in life. She was the happiest on a tractor helping "Ossie" around the farm. Survivors include a son, Bill Harris (Nancy); seven grandchildren, Sean Harris (Patti), Angie Harris-Graves (Bud), Heidi Werries (Scott), Cheyanne Kniffin, Sheri Browning (Chris), Kathy Harris and Nancy E. Harris; 18 great-grandchildren; a brother, Jackie Cutforth (Jean); and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Luella Wear; a brother, Gene Cutforth; and an adopted sister, Erma Corrigan. SERVICES: 1 p.m. Thursday in the Hamilton Funeral Home, Clayton. Burial will follow in South Side Cemetery, Clayton. VISITATION: 11 a.m. Thursday until time of services at the funeral home.
