CARTHAGE, Ill. -- Pauline LaBonte, 91, of Carthage, formerly of Elderville, passed on to be with her Lord on Sunday (Dec. 2, 2012) at Heritage House in Carthage.

She was born July 12, 1921, in Wythe Township, a daughter of John and Julia Jacobs Koehler. She married Lester Althide in 1939; he died in 1949. She married Orville Fredrick "Red" LaBonte on Feb. 9, 1952, in Sutter. Orville died June 6, 2009. Pauline and Red shared more than 57 years together.

Pauline was a lifetime member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ in Sutter where she taught Sunday school and was active in Women's Fellowship.

She was a homemaker and a dedicated farm wife. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She especially loved playing cards with her neighbors, family and friends. She taught most of her grandchildren how to play cards. Cross-stitch was another favorite pastime for her; she made quilts for each of her 12 grandchildren.

Pauline and Red enjoyed many trips with family and friends. Also, they spent several winters in Florida during their later life.

The family is very grateful to Debbie Brown of the Heritage House of Carthage for her very special care and love she had given Pauline for the past six years.
