James Kenneth "Kenny" Logsdon, 90, of 301 N. Eighth, died at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday (Dec. 25, 2012) in Sunset Home. He was born on Nov. 2, 1922, in Elkhorn, a son of Vernon and Laura Still Logsdon. On Dec. 22, 1997, he married Marjorie Goertz. She died Feb. 27, 2009. He was enlisted in the U.S. Navy for 21 years and served during World War II and in Korea and Vietnam. After his military service, he worked as a carpenter in Columbus, Ga., until he returned to Quincy in 1996. He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Laura Etchells of Quincy; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, LeRoy Logsdon of Quincy and Ray Logsdon and his wife, Doris, of Rock Island; five sisters, Verna Mae Felker of Quincy, Nellie Johnson of Taylor, Mo., Leona Mittleburg and her husband, Lowell, of Liberty, Florence Cantrell and her husband, Ronnie, of Camp Point, and Dorothy Decker and her husband, Paul, of Liberty. He was preceded in death by his parents; a great-grandson; two sisters, Lola Davis and Mildred Hendricks, and a brother, Harold "Corky" Logsdon. SERVICES: 1 p.m. Friday memorial service will be held in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Rains conducting. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post No. 37.
