David Robert Kenady, 58, of Quincy, went to be with his Lord and Savior at 1:45 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 12, 2013) in Blessing Hospital surrounded by his wife and his two daughters, who were so very special to him.

David was born Nov. 18, 1954, in Quincy, a son of Robert and Gwendolyn Knox Kenady. He married Kimberly Grimmer Riley on Oct. 18, 2008, in Quincy. She survives.

David was a 1972 Quincy High School graduate and farmed with his father. He and Dan Long began the Kenady-Long Auctioneers in 1984. He also had been an auctioneer for Hudson Marshall Inc. of Chicago. He was always donating his time as a charity auctioneer. In 1990, he started working as a Realtor and broker for Happel and Schlipmann Real Estate. He was the Riverside Township road commissioner for 12 years. David grew up as a member of Ellington Presbyterian Church. He had been baptized as an adult at the waterfall on the family farm, and most recently was a member of The Crossing. David loved to farm, he loved the outdoors where he also loved to hunt, and he was an avid collector of antiques. During his cancer fight, David was especially appreciative of the people who came to visit him and journey with him, and he always felt that he was receiving great care from the staff at Blessing.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include his mother, Gwen Kenady, of Quincy; his two daughters, Natalie and Elizabeth Kenady, both of Quincy; a granddaughter, Ava Kenady, of Quincy; three stepchildren, Taylor, Hilary and Ross Riley, all of Quincy: two step grandchildren, Addison and Jace Wombles, of Quincy; two sisters, Karen (Jim) Dennis of Quincy and Kathryn (Steve) Ferguson of Watertown, S.D.; a brother, John Kenady, of Quincy, and several nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Margaret Beth Kenady.
