MENDON, Ill. --Ethel Veronica Woods, 91, formerly of Cicero, died on Thursday (Feb. 7, 2013) in the North Adams Home at Mendon.

She was born March 1, 1921, in Chicago, a daughter of John Edgar and Ethel Cecelia Archambault Grogan. She married Robert Woods, and he preceded her in death.

Ethel worked for many years in sales.

She was of the Catholic faith.

Ethel lived her life with a spirit of generosity and a sense of compassion for others.

Survivors include her children, Patrick Woods of Quincy, and Jessica (Bruce) Rueppel of San Mateo, Calif.; grandchildren, Charles Henry Woods and his wife, Toni, of McHenry, Shawn P. Woods and his wife, Angie, Jeffrey W. Woods and his wife, Amber, all of Quincy; great-grandchildren, Vincent, Victoria, Nolan, Ashlyn, McKenzie, Ethan and Natalie; two sisters, Gladys Rogers and Margaret Simmons; and many nieces and nephews also survive.

Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, nine of her siblings, and her longtime companion, Daniel C. Caligure.

SERVICES: 2 p.m. Saturday in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home in Quincy, with the Rev. Roy Bauer. Interment will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Queen of Peace Cemetery in Hillside.

VISITATION: Saturday from 1 p.m. until time of the services in the funeral home.

MEMORIALS: Fund for Breast Cancer Research.
