HAMILTON, Ill. -- Edwin Jacob Koehler, 102, of Hamilton, died at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 12, 2013) in River Hills Village, Keokuk, Iowa. He was born July 23, 1910, in Hamilton, a son of William Daniel and Rosa Susanna Schmitt Koehler. He married Maurine Fredricka Disselhorst on Nov. 14, 1935, in Sutter. She died Nov. 12, 2003. Mr. Koehler was an active member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ in Sutter, where he served in many capacities. He served on the Warsaw School Board. He enjoyed playing skip-bo and pinochle, fishing and spending time with his family. Survivors include three daughters, Shirley Wheeler Champlin of Chico, Calif., Joyce (Ronald) Schilling of Lincoln, Phyllis (Stanley) Fleck of Hamilton; one son, Cletus (Kathy) Koehler of Rocheport, Mo.; 17 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Edwin was preceded in death by a daughter, Rogene Avery; three sisters, Eunice Elizabeth Koehler, Margret Hempen and Evelyn Doyle; and a brother, Arthur Koehler. SERVICES: 11 a.m. Saturday in Bethlehem United Church of Christ in Sutter, conducted by the Rev. Roy Paterik. Burial will be in the church cemetery. VISITATION: 10 a.m. Saturday until time of services in the church. MEMORIALS: Bethlehem United Church of Christ or River Hills Village in Keokuk.
