BARRY, Ill. -- Shirley A. Boyd, 91, of Barry, died at 2 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 14, 2013) in the Barry Community Care Center. She was born Aug. 8, 1921, in Barry, a daughter to Fred L. and Jennie E. Spink Stroheker. They preceded her in death. She married Albert G. Boyd on May 17, 1943, in St. Louis. He died on June 8, 1979. Shirley was very fond of animals, especially her dogs, and she enjoyed cooking and reading. Survivors include her granddaughter, Ann M. Boyd Briggs and her husband, John, of St. Louis; a foster daughter, Barbara Brider, of Collinsville; two foster grandsons, David Brider of Collinsville and Steven Brider of St. Jacob; and a foster great-grandson, David Austin Brider of Collinsville. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, John A. Boyd, on Nov. 26, 1965; a brother, Stewart Stroheker; and two sisters, Mary Elizabeth "Billie" Johnson and Frances Smith. SERVICES: 11 a.m. Monday in the Kirgan Funeral Home, Barry.
