Richard D. "Rick" Mulvaney, 63, of Quincy, formerly of Augusta and Clayton, died at 8:02 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 16, 2013) in the Blessing Hospital emergency room. He was born on Nov. 12, 1949, in Mount Vernon, a son of Milford and Deloris Mae Long Mulvaney. He was a 1968 graduate of Mount Vernon High School, received an associate in arts degree from John Wood Community College in Quincy and received a bachelor of science degree in secondary education from Western Illinois University in Macomb. Mr. Mulvaney was a teacher and coach at Southeastern School District in Augusta, retiring Sept. 12, 2012. Besides coaching and teaching at Southeastern, he served as an scorekeeper at athletic events and was a school bus driver. He was an avid baseball and Chicago Cubs fan, as well as a follower of Chicago Bears football and University of Indiana basketball. He was preceded in death by his parents. SERVICES: 11 a.m. Saturday in the Bowen Christian Church in Bowen. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon. VISITATION: 9 a.m. Saturday until the time of services in the church.
