Mrs. June Homberger, 88, of 2130 Harrison, Cottage 39 B, formerly of 3512 The Courts of Westview, Quincy, died at 12:45 p.m. Saturday (March 2, 2013) in the emergency room of Blessing Hospital.

Born June 19, 1924 in Quincy, June was a daughter of Joe and Harriett Haner Harvey. She married Kenneth E. Homberger on May 3, 1947, in Luther Memorial Church in Quincy. He survives.

June was a lifetime member of Luther Memorial Church, where she loved singing with the choir. June and Ken loved to travel, and a special joy was their love of dancing and music.

A 1942 graduate of Quincy High School, June worked for a brief time in the office of Block & Kuhl in Quincy. She then worked for the U. S. Navy Department in New Orleans during World War II. She moved back to Quincy after the war and worked as a secretary in the treasury department at Gardner Denver until her marriage.

June was a full-time devoted wife and mother, and she returned to the business world as an assistant trust officer at State Street Bank while her children were in college.

On Jan. 1, 1975, the Hombergers purchased Harvey's Furniture Store from their uncle and aunt, Walter and Edna Harvey. They were both active in the operation of the business with their son, Joe Homberger, and daughter, Janis Wilson, until their retirement in 2004, when their children became owners of the business.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Joe Homberger and his wife, Janet, of Quincy; a daughter, Janis Wilson and her husband, Sid, of Quincy; five grandchildren, Kenneth A. Homberger and his wife, Katherine, of Frisco, Texas, Michael J. Homberger of Quincy, Tasha Beck Albold and her husband, Chad, of Hanford, Calif., Lindsay Beck Kelly and her husband, Ryan, of Greenwood, Ind., and Trevor Beck and his wife, Kristin, of Quincy; four great-grandchildren, Blake Lindsay Albold and Cade David Albold of Hanford, Lauryn Tasha Kelly of Greenwood, and Drew Nicole Homberger of Frisco; a brother-in-law, Quentin Schaffner of Conroe, Texas; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mrs. Homberger was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Vellmer Harvey and his wife, Gertrude, and C. Dale Harvey and his wife, Genevieve; a sister, Marilyn Schaffner; and two very special aunts, Miss Mabel Harvey and Miss Edna Harvey.

SERVICES: Cremation rites have been accorded to Mrs. Homberger. Private family inurnment will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.
