Marjorie Belle Sprague, 99, of 2130 Harrison St., died Tuesday (March 12, 2013) in the Good Samaritan Home. She had been a resident of Hull for many years and lived at 600 Hill and Brook, Quincy, before becoming a resident of the Good Samaritan Home. She was born Dec. 24, 1913, in Barry, the daughter of Harland and Rosa Belle Root Huntley. On Jan. 29, 1933, she married Oscar Layo Sprague in Kinderhook. He died Oct. 24, 2007. Mrs. Sprague had worked as a medical secretary for many years at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Hannibal, Mo. After retirement, she helped her husband at Hull Legion Lanes. In her spare time, she enjoyed crafting and sewing. Mrs. Sprague and her husband enjoyed camping and traveling, and they spent their winters in Florida. She was a member of Hull Community Church. Survivors include a son, Darrell (Billie) Sprague of Batesville, Ark.; a daughter, Wanda Speckhart of Quincy; two brothers, Robert Huntley of Boerne, Texas, and Elmo (Bea) Huntley of Marion, Ind.; a sister-in-law, Juanita Huff, of Pekin; five grandchildren, Larry (Cathy) Sprague of LaGrange, Mo., Steve Sprague of Fort Worth, Texas, Bruce (Karen) Speckhart of Quincy, Jeanna (Dale) Loos of Quincy and Lisa (Doug) LaDage of O'Fallon, Mo.; a step-granddaughter, Brenda (Benny) Ivy of Batesville; 19 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Jim E. Speckhart; a brother, Lorraine Huntley; two sisters-in-law, Mildred and Della Huntley; and a step-granddaughter, LaDonna Tharp. SERVICES: 11 a.m. Saturday in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Ralph Fairchild conducting. Burial will be in Kinderhook Cemetery. VISITATION: 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
