Rita Catherine Jochem, 92, of Lincolnshire, formerly of Quincy, died Tuesday (March 12, 2013) in Wealshire Life Care Community in Lincolnshire. Rita was born Jan. 20, 1921, in Quincy, a daughter of Walter and Colletta Lennert Kiefer. She married Norbert L. "Nibs" Jochem on June 6, 1942, in Wauwatosa, Wis. He died Jan. 31, 2001. Rita was a graduate of Notre Dame High School of Quincy and worked for several years as a legal assistant until her marriage. She then focused her life on raising their four children. Rita was a member of the Church of St. Peter. She was an avid bridge player and member of the Women's City Club. She thoroughly enjoyed reading and playing the organ for many memorable family occasions. Survivors include her children, Carol Ryan of Troy, Mich., Mary Jane (Michael) Golden of Chicago, and John (Bonnie) Jochem of Libertyville; a daughter-in-law, Jayne Jochem of Scarborough, Maine; and grandchildren, Tracy (Chad) Pratt, Kathleen (Mark) Chrz, Matthew Golden, Elizabeth (Kris) Thornburg, Mark Jochem, Joshua Jochem, and Hannah Jochem. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Daniel Jochem; a grandson, Steven Ryan; a son-in-law, Michael Ryan; two sisters, Ruth Blines and Marsha Moore; and one brother, Edward Kiefer. SERVICES: 1 p.m. Saturday in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian burial at 1:30 p.m. in Church of St. Peter, Monsignor Leo Enlow conducting.
