Darvin Dafferner, 88, of the Good Samaritan Home, died at 11:10 a.m. Thursday (March 21, 2013) in the home. Born Jan. 3, 1925. in St. Louis, Darvin was a son of Edwin and Louise Kemmeter Dafferner. He married Doris McKenna on Dec. 24, 1943, in Couer D'Alene, Idaho. She survives. Mr. Dafferner served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. An avid outdoorsman, Darvin enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. Mr. Dafferner was employed for 38 years as a district representative for Texaco until his retirement. Survivors include his wife, Doris; a daughter, Pat Shull (Dennis) of Quincy; two sons, Mike Dafferner (Carol) of The Woodlands, Texas, and Bradley Dafferner of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren, Brian Dafferner (Joy), Alec Dafferner (Libby), Stacy Shull Gustafson (Craig), Nathan Shull, Michael Shull (Leigh) and Devon Shull Kaufmann (Tyler); nine great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews. Mr. Dafferner was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Edwin Dafferner Jr. SERVICES: Cremation rites have been accorded to Mr. Dafferner. Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
