William L. "Bill" Bergstrom, 78, of 1228 N. 22nd, Quincy, died at 8:05 a.m. Wednesday (April 3, 2013) in his home.

Born July 11, 1934, in Waukegan, Bill was the son of Raymond E. and Elsie M. Gladden Bergstrom. He was married to Jean Louise Hoener of Quincy.

A 1952 graduate of Quincy High School, Bill was a member of the Blue Devil varsity wrestling team, going to state his senior year. He was a longtime member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and the Brookfield (Mo.) Rotary Club and enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing league softball and league bowling. Bill especially enjoyed camping and belonged to the Escapees of the Good Sam Motor Club and the international group Loners on Wheels.

From 1955 to 1968, Bill was employed at Willer Dairy. In 1975 he began his career with Prairie Farms Dairy in Quincy, moving to Brookfield, Mo., in 1990 when he was promoted to branch manager. Mr. Bergstrom retired after 25 years with the company, in January 2000.

Survivors include two daughters, Victoria Cannon and Valerie Straus (Steven), both of Quincy; three sons, Daniel "Dan" Bergstrom of Blue Springs, Mo., D. Scott Bergstrom of Quincy and Curtis A. Bergstrom (Debbie) of Kansas City, Mo.; 13 grandchildren, Mark Cannon (Nicole) of Loveland, Colo., Melissa Leonard (Rick), James Cannon, Ashley Cannon, John Shelton (Jodie) and Jacob Shelton, all of Quincy, Jacy Shelton (Nikki) of Bowen, Shawn Bergstrom (Kelly) of Kansas City, Mo., Shane Bergstrom of Liberty, Mo., Samantha Jenkins of Independence, Mo., Tiffany Bergstrom of Bowling Green, Mo., Dustin Bergstrom of Olney, and Brittney Wellman of New Albany, Ind.; 22 great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 16 stepgreat-grandchildren; a brother, Robert E. Bergstrom of Toronto, Canada; many loving nieces and nephews; and his loyal and faithful dog, Rocky.

Mr. Bergstrom was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Howard L. Bergstrom; and two grandchildren, Jerred A. Shelton and Jesica D. Shelton.

SERVICES: 11 a.m. Saturday in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Richard Martin. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.

MEMORIALS: Blessing Foundation for Hospice or the Quincy Humane Society.
