Charles W. "Charlie" Collins, 77, of Quincy, died at 11:29 p.m. Sunday (April 7, 2013) in Blessing Hospital. Born Nov. 22, 1935, in New York, Charlie was a son of Charles and Frances Moorehead Collins. He married Margaret Cronin on April 6, 1958, in the Bronx, N.Y. She survives. Charlie was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and Quincy VFW Post 5129, and was a 30-year member of South Side Boat Club. An avid sports fan, Charlie was a Yankees fan and became a fan of the Chicago Cubs after moving to Illinois. He enjoyed woodworking and going to the casino. Mr. Collins served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Charlie began his career in data processing with Hornblower and Weeks in New York, working on Wall Street for 17 years before moving to Quincy in 1974, where he began with Citizens Data Center, which later became PNC. He retired in 1994. In addition to his wife of 55 years, survivors include three daughters, Donna Goehl of Quincy, Peggy Tarr of Quincy and Kelly Ragar (Randy) of Springfield, Mo.; five grandchildren, Jason Vipond (Tuesday Critz), Jessica Foster (Anthony), Justin Tarr (Stephanie), Lacey Ragar and Kayle Ragar; five great-grandchildren, Damon Steffens, Dillon Campbell, Lillian Foster, Brooklynn Tarr and Reese Foster; a sister, Eileen Robb of Albany, Ore.; and many loving nieces and nephews. Mr. Collins was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Brad Goehl; and his mother-in-law, Florence Scarry. SERVICES: 1 p.m. Thursday in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Leo Enlow. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
