PALMYRA, Mo. -- Wayne F. "Bud" Englehardt, 90, of Palmyra, passed away Thursday (May 2, 2013) in the Maple Lawn Nursing Home, Palmyra. Bud was born June 14, 1922 in Galva, Ill., to W.E. and Hilder Andersson Englehardt. He married Betty Evelyn Taylor April 6, 1947 in Hannibal. She survives of the home. Mr. Englehardt founded Bud's Paint and Body Shop in 1945. After his retirement, he continued working part time with his son and grandson at the shop. Bud was a 1941 graduate of Palmyra High School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Palmyra. Survivors include a son, Larry Englehardt and wife his, Jill, of Palmyra; a brother, C.E. Englehardt and his wife, Ann, of Orlando, Fla.; a sister, Betty Bickhaus her and husband, Bob, of Macon, Mo.; and grandsons Kyle and Chad Englehardt of Palmyra. He was preceded in death by his parents and two daughters, Debbie and Cathy Englehardt. SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra. The Rev. Terry M. Buster will conduct. Burial will be held in the Greenwood Cemetery in Palmyra, with military honors by the Boots Dickson American Legion Post 174 and Norfolk-Smith VFW Post 11041. Casket bearers will be John White, Donnie Bemis, Ron Nelson, Glen Ebbing, Greg Cramer and Steve Kiefaber. Honorary bearers will be the employees of Bud's Paint and Body Shop and Paul Bickhaus.
