Robert A. DeVerger Sr., 85, of 831 S. Fifth, Quincy, died at 7 a.m. Friday (May 17, 2013) in his home. Robert was born Dec. 3, 1927, in Hull, a son of Clifford and Lena Williams DeVerger. He married Shelia Hull on April 24, 1986, in Quincy. She survives. Robert enjoyed working on and repairing cars. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Robert DeVerger Jr. of Quincy, Donald (Teresa) Manker of Perry and Calvin Manker of Quincy; his daughter, Stella (Rich) Tanner of Carthage; nine grandchildren, Max, Richard, Ashley, Angela, Rachel, Donnie, Perry, Tristan and Cheyenne; two great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Abigail; his sister, Mary Jo Harker of Quincy; and numerous nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Clifford Ray, Carl, Ed and Charlie; a sister, Eva Harvey; and a nephew, Paul Dunivan. SERVICES: 10 a.m. Monday in Quincy Memorial Park, conducted by American Legion Post 37 Honor Guard and the Illinois Military Funeral Honors detail.
