LIBERTY, Ill. -- Flora E. Brown, 89, of the Illinois Veterans Home, formerly of Liberty, died at 9:20 p.m. Thursday (June 27, 2013) in the home. She was born Aug. 23, 1923, in East St. Louis, a daughter of John L. and Lorena Doran Ernst. Flora was the owner and operator of the Liberty Bee Times for many years. She served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. Flora liked sports, traveling and spending time with her family. She is survived by four children, Michael Brown and his wife, Brenda, of Sun City, Ariz., Joyce Bangert and her husband, Dick, of Liberty, Guy Brown of Liberty, and Deborah Lefringhouse and her husband, Ben, of Liberty; 16 grandchildren, Michele Jenkins and her husband, Bob, Teresa Crosley, Linda Sachs and her husband, Mark, Todd Brown and his wife, Teresa, Melissa Carl, Keith Bangert and his wife, Margaret, Richard Bangert, Connie Williams and her husband, Rick, Kelly Gassett, Nathan Brown and his fiance, Emily, Nicholas Brown and his wife, KaLynn, Casey Brown and his wife, Candace, Ashley Brown, Denise Snyder and her husband, Randy, Brad Lefringhouse and his wife, Amy, and Benny Lefringhouse; 35 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, William Ernst, and his wife, Jewel; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives Flora was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Leslie Hinzs; and a brother, John Ernst Jr. SERVICES: Cremation rites have been accorded.
