John Elmer Baldwin, 80, of Quincy, died Tuesday (July 2, 2013) surrounded by his loving family. He was born Aug. 25, 1932, in El Segundo, Calif., a son of Carl and Helen Noel Baldwin. He married Peggy Brooks on Nov. 16, 1974, in Las Vegas, Nev. John served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950-1965 during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. While in the service, he was a member of the Air Police. He was a buyer for the Boeing Co. until his retirement. He was a 32nd Degree member of the Masonic Lodge 99 of Wichita, Kan. He loved to travel and camp, and he enjoyed boating. In addition to his wife, Peggy, he is survived by his children, Tracey Ibarra, Robert and Judy Baldwin, William and LaKimbra Baldwin, Rod and Donna Gertz, Randy and Linda Gertz and Richard Gertz and Patty Hagedorn; grandchildren, Peter Ibarra, Clinton Ibarra, Larren Wells, John Baldwin, Nikita Baldwin, Cheyenne Baldwin, Bailey Baldwin, Logan Baldwin, Lisa Jeffries, Amber Baumgartner, Krissy Hicks, Matthew Baumgartner, Ashley Gertz, Nancy Gertz, Monica Gertz, Donna Gertz, Adam and Meghan Gertz, Michele Gertz and her fiance', Ryan Newbrough, and Cody Gertz; and great-grandchildren, Hailey Gertz, Chanee Hicks, Emily and Molly Schroder, Dalaina and Lorissa Gertz, Dakota Gertz, Alexcis Wittler, Braxtin Wittler, Kobe Clayton, Abigail Gertz, Elizabeth Gertz and Bryce Gertz. He was preceded in death by his parents. SERVICES: Cremation rites have been accorded. A private family service will take place at a later date at Cheney Reservoir.
