Logan Allen Obituary

EDINA, Mo. -- Logan Steven Allen, 15, of Edina, died early Wednesday morning (July 10, 2013) in University Hospital, Columbia, following an accidental gunshot wound.

He was born Feb. 18, 1998, in Kirksville, a son of Steven Francis and Sonya Renee Stout Allen.

Logan was a sophomore at Knox County R-I High School where he was very active in Future Farmers of America, shop and ag classes. He loved sports and played baseball and basketball. This summer, he played on the Knox County traveling baseball team. In addition to being a strong team member, Logan would go out and care for the Eagle home field. He was a St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan, and he and his Grandmother Martina were always coaching the Cardinals from home.

He enjoyed the outdoors by going hunting, fishing, boating, tubing, bowling and four-wheel riding. He also loved being on the farm and helping Grandpa Stout anytime. Logan and his dad worked together and rebuilt a car that was just waiting for Logan's 16th birthday; he would go out and just sit in the car, listening to his favorite music. He so admired and looked up to his brother, Dylan. Hanging out with his friends and family was especially important. He worked part time for Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel in Edina.

Logan made an impact on everyone's life. He had a big heart and always a beautiful infectious smile for everyone. He just naturally brightened your day no matter what. Overall, he had so much enthusiasm and joy for life. He has been taken so suddenly from us, but God has a special destiny for Logan, and he will be eternally in our hearts.

Logan is survived by his parents of Edina; his maternal grandparents, Joe Don and Shirley Stout, of Newark; his paternal grandmother, Martina Allen, of Edina; three brothers, Dylan Morgret of the home, Greg Allen of Ottumwa, Iowa, and Gerard of Seymour, Iowa; one sister, Alesia McDaniels and her husband, Marty, of Centerville, Iowa; uncles and aunts, Kyle and Teresa Stout and Mike and Theresa Hamlin, all of Edina; and several cousins, including Jessie and Mitchell Stout, Travis Hamlin and Amy Garrett and family.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Richard "Dick" Allen in November 1982.

Logan's baseball team will play a home game at 6 p.m. Sunday against Clark County. The team will play a man down, and Logan will take the honorary ninth spot as center fielder.

SERVICES: 1 p.m. Sunday in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, Edina, with the Rev. Rick Barnes conducting. Music will be provided by Jim and Kyle Clark. Burial will be in the Garden of the Cross section of Park View Memorial Gardens, Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Vance Rowland, Mike O'Haver, Nathan Miller, Tristan Longberger, John McCarty and Cody Morgenstern.

VISITATION: after 2 p.m. Saturday, with family meeting friends from 5 to 9 p.m. in the funeral home.

MEMORIALS: charity of the donor's choice; may be left at or mailed to Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1, Edina, MO 63537.
