PAYSON, Ill. -- Billie A. Martin, 70, of Payson, died at 8:55 p.m. Friday (Sept. 6, 2013) in Blessing Hospital, Quincy. She was born June 25, 1943, in Quincy, a daughter of John Daniel and Helen Irene Tournear. She married Richard Martin on Oct. 19, 1986, in Palmyra, Mo. He survives. She had previously married Bobby Jones in December 1963 in Battle Creek, Mich. Billie was a 1961 graduate of Unity High School in Mendon. She had been a clerk at the Hotel Quincy and a dietary aide in local nursing homes. She volunteered at the Salvation Army and loved watching her grandchildren grow up. She also enjoyed cooking and baking, especially French toast, cookies, homemade cinnamon rolls, apple and pumpkin pies. In addition to her husband of Payson, survivors include her first husband, Bobby Jones, of New London, Mo.; six children, Diana (Allen) York of Davenport, Iowa, Adam Jones of Quincy, Tara (Joseph) Bullock of Payson, Candie Weyant of Quincy, Erin (Travis) Kalista of Quincy and Richard "Richie" (fiancÃ©, Carla Chapman) Martin Jr. of Payson; 16 grandchildren; one great-grandchild on the way; three brothers, Truman Tournear, John (Charlotte) Tournear and Leonard (Sue) Tournear, all of Quincy; a sister, Sandra (Timothy Walker), of Marblehead; two brothers-in-law, Edward (Amy) Martin and Timothy Martin, both of Quincy; a sister-in-law, Tammy (Raymond) Mabie; an uncle, Allen Tournear; four aunts, Mildred and Norma of Texas and Inez and Alice Tournear of Quincy; and numerous nieces and nephews. Billie was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents; a sister, Debra Murfin; a son, Ethan Allen Martin; two grandsons, Chance Raines-Jones and Cory; and aunts and uncles. SERVICES: 10 a.m. Thursday in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Ronald Wellman conducting. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
