Obituaries from the Past Three Days

WOODS, Patricia
WOODS, Patricia Ann Patricia Ann Woods (McMillan), 91, died peacefully on March 22, 2015, in Lebanon, Oregon. Patricia will be missed by her children: Dianna of New Mexico; David & wife, Martita; and James & wife, Joline, all of Oregon; and her many grandchildren & great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Earnest Woods; her parents: Hugh McMillan & Catherine Metivier, and three siblings: Roderick, Josephine and Hugh. Patricia was born December 21, 1923, in Detroit, MI. She worked as a secretary and stenographer extraordinaire for the Assoc. of American Railroad in downtown Detroit. On Mackinac Island she met James, a young Army Sergeant from Mt. Union, PA., and fell in love. They married in 1945. In 1958 the family moved to Whittier, CA. Patricia was active at St. Bruno's Catholic Church, a "Get Out the Vote" participant, a voter registrar, a Library Assistant, and an enthusiastic participant of the local Bridge Club. When James retired from the US Post Office in 1971, the couple moved to Honolulu to begin new adventures. Patricia was active at St. Peter and Paul's, the Democrat Party, and the USO. After James passed in 1978, Patricia worked at the Honolulu Book Store, a perfect job for a voracious reader. She was an avid walker, international traveler, and always ready for a game of cards. She loved Hawaii and lived there for 35 years. In 2007, Patricia moved to Corvallis, OR, to be closer to family. She belonged to St. Mary's, and enjoyed eating lunch with her friends, and playing bingo. Due to failing health, Patricia moved to Holly's Haven Memory Care in 2014. Under their care, and Evergreen Hospice, she lived her last days in comfort. Patricia's faith gave her reassurance she would be reunited with loved ones in heaven. Patricia requested no public funeral. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Holly's Haven, 570 S. 14th St., Lebanon, OR 97355 or Evergreen Hospice, 1046 Sixth Ave. SW, Albany, OR 97321.
