Donald Cecil Goodrow was born in Owensmouth (Canoga Park), California, June 1, 1929 and took residence with his Lord on January 15, 2014.
Don was always the first to respond to those in need; in his family, his friends, in the US Navy

, in business, in his community and globally. Strangers were only friends he had not met yet.
Glimpses of Don's life: Graduated from Canoga Park High in 1948. Served in the US Navy in Korea from 1949 - 1953 serving in the Helicopter Squadron One (HU-1). He was proud to be an American and to serve his country. Married the love of his life, Rosalyn "Dolly" Asadurian on June 3 , 1951. Was a Los Angeles City Fireman from 1953 until 1973. With his wife Dolly, founded and owned Hillside Rubbish Company from 1958 to 1999. Served on the California Refuse Removal Council for many years, served as President in 1989 and helped write the recycling laws in California. Served for several years on the Calabasas Chamber of Commerce and was President in 1967. Participated in the Thousand Oaks/Spitak Armenia Sister Program from 1988 to 2011. Supported many causes including the Armenian Ararat Home, Armenian Orphans Fund, and St. Peters Armenian Church.
Don is survived by his wife, Dolly; son, Brad; daughter, Donnell; son-in-law, Bill Nichols; grandsons, Ryan and Tyler; granddaughter, Katie; and brothers, Marvin and Richard. Don loved life, family and people. He loved to travel and visited many countries throughout his life. His love for Armenia and eagerness to help took him there very often. Don was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and neighbor. Our world and this world is a better place because he was here. He will be missed dearly. "Job well done, good and faithful servant."
