1916 - 2013

Former 55-year Whittier resident,
Lucile Hobbs, passed away quietly in her sleep on September 2, 2013, age 97, in Santa Rosa, California. She is now safe in the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ. She was born in Garden Prairie, Illinois, and raised in South Dakota and North Dakota. After high school, Lucile worked in the law office of Judge Potts in Mobridge, South Dakota. She moved to Los Angeles in 1942, where she met her devoted husband of 50 years, the late Donald Hobbs. They moved to Whittier in 1947 to raise their family.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda and Donna, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Lucile was a member and financial secretary of East Whittier Presbyterian Church for many years. She also was a member in the Ionic Chapter 103 of the Eastern Star in Mobridge for over fifty years. Her passion was playing bridge and she was involved in several bridge clubs. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband to Europe, Russia, and the Caribbean. She loved being a homemaker and spending time with her friends and family.
A graveside service will be held September 14, at 2 p.m. at Rose Hills Memorial Park.
A memorial service will be held in Rohnert Park, her home for 11 years, at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the .
