Charlene H. Powell Obituary
Charlene H. Powell
Passed away on April 21, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family.
Born on September 22, 1934 in Tempe, AZ, Charlene moved to Ontario, CA as a young child. She attended Chaffey High School in Ontario and business college in Los Angeles. She married Garner Powell in 1953, and was happily married for over 50 years. Charlene worked as an administrative assistant at First Baptist Church and Pomona Valley Hospital for many years.
Charlene was a true "lady", always dressed to perfection with perfect hair, even in her final days. She was a woman of many talents. An amazing cook and artist, her daughters often called her "Martha Stewart". Charlene was active in the women's ministry at Life Bible Fellowship in Upland and was dedicated to teaching the word of God. She was a mentor to many young women she thought of as her "daughters."
Charlene was preceded in death by her husband, J. Garner Powell and her son, Kevin Powell. She is survived by her daughters: KimberLee Rahlfs of Laguna Niguel and Lisa Momberg of Upland; sons-in-law: Thomas Rahlfs and Matthew Momberg; and daughter-in-law, Cari Powell. Lovingly known as "Grandmother", she leaves behind her greatest joy, her three grandchildren: Ryan Powell, Katelyn Rahlfs, and Tess Momberg.
Her kindness, wisdom, and devotion to family and friends will never be forgotten by those whose lives she touched. A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held at 3:00 P.M., Sunday June 2nd at Life Bible fellowship Church, 2426 N. Euclid Ave., Upland, CA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in the memory of Charlene to VNA & Hospice of Southern California, 150 West First Street, Suite 270, Claremont, CA 91711; or USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, 1441 Eastlake Ave., Room 8302, Los Angeles, CA 90033.
