ELAINE RUTH McLAUGHLIN
Passed away on December 13, 2013, in West Hills, California. "Nana" was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was born in Joplin,
Missouri on October 13, 1930 to George and Rose Stowell.
She was preceded in death by her lifetime love and beloved husband of 52 years, William Curtis McLaughlin whom she married in 1948. Hearing the call of the West, in 1955 they traveled from Oklahoma to settle in Canoga Park, California. Nana was an old school mom with a tough Midwest spirit and culinary skills second to none. Family was the most important thing to her.
She raised three children, five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Nana was an avid reader, a devoted animal lover, a true Midwest cook and had a heart of solid gold. Her corn pudding and homemade fudge are legendary. She always kept her oven warm and the cookie jar full in the event that anyone needed her heartfelt parental guidance or just a friend to talk to. In Nana's home everyone was always welcome and treated as family. She will be truly missed by her family and friends for her quick wit and warm and easy going personality and her huge open and giving heart.
She is survived by her sister, Gerry Weaver and two of her three children, Polly Tattersall and Patrick McLaughlin and preceded in death by her son, William Scott McLaughlin. Her memorial service will be held on Saturday January 25th at 11:00 am at the United Methodist Church of Westlake Village.
