Elizabeth S. Fluhman Garliepp beloved wife of James F. Garliepp passed away Friday November 1, 2013 in
Carlsbad, California. Elizabeth was born in the small town of Roy, New Mexico to Ernest and Alice Fluhman in 1925. She met and married her husband of 65 years after graduating from the University of New Mexico with dual majors in math and music.
Elizabeth is survived by three children, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was a dedicated homemaker, a talented artist and an enthusiastic church and community volunteer. She served as the president of Assistance League of Upland, and on the boards of United Way, Assistance League of North County, and chaired the board of the Upland Christian Church. She enjoyed volunteering in the Carlsbad and Oceanside schools spending many hours helping primary students with their reading and math skills.
In addition to attending live music and theater performances, Elizabeth loved worldwide travel and logged thousands of miles RVing with her husband and children. A serious china painter, Elizabeth also enjoyed gardening, shopping for antiques, catching salmon, and playing bridge and gin rummy to win!
A private family memorial service will be held at Torrey Pines Christian Church in La Jolla , California. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Assistance League of the Foothill Community, Assistance League of North County, or the Disciples Seminary Foundation in Claremont, California.
