Patricia Louise (Patty) Gladson

Patty, 82, our sweet, beloved mother and grandmother, passed on October 7, 2013. Born in Los Angeles to Florence (Cavanagh) and Richard Morris. After her birth mother passed away 8 days
after she was born, she was lovingly raised by her aunt, Kathleen (Cavanagh) Morris. Patty Lou (Morris) attended Washington HS class of 49, where she met her future husband, Jim Gladson. She sailed to the Galapagos with Jim and her in-laws in the 1950s. She served as a teaching assistant, librarian and PTA officer at several schools in Highland Park and Pasadena. In the 1970s, she began a career as a librarian at CalTech, established its Computer Science Department Library, and later moved to its Aeronautical Engineering Library. She is survived by her sister Leila (Jim) Langston, children Richard (Rachel) Gladson and Julie (Phil) Tokumaru and four grandchildren. She was a volunteer gardener at the L.A. Arboretum and in the rose gardens at the Wrigley Mansion and Huntington Library. She was an avid reader who loved to read aloud to young children and always came home from the library happy.
