Long Beach resident Harry Scholar passed away peacefully on July 4, 2012 at the age of 87. Harry was married for 62 years to the love of his life, Doris (Gandolfo). Harry helped build their house on Elm in 1950 and lived there throughout his life. He was dedicated to his family, the Native Sons of the Golden West, the Garibaldina MB Society, the USS Hornet Association, and his jokes. He served in the Navy on the USS Hornet during WWII, and finished as an Aviation Chief Machinist Mate (CPO) after the war. Harry is survived by his loving wife, Doris; 2 children, Julie (Hahn) and Mark; son-in-law, Doug; and his 4 grandchildren: Jeffrey, Matthew, Christopher, and Rachel. Friends are invited to attend a graveside memorial service at Forest Lawn Cypress at 12:30pm on Thursday., July 12, 2012. A reception will follow.
