James (Jim) Denison
We are sad to announce the passing of James (Jim) Denison on February 15, 2014. He was a devoted and loving husband of more than 63 years to Ann Denison and father of Steven Denison. He was born to Lester and Blanche Denison in Attica, Kansas on October 24, 1928. He moved with his family to Colorado at the age of 5. His family once again moved, this time to Spring Valley, CA (just east of San Diego) when he was a teenager. After leaving Grossmont High School, he joined the U.S. Navy, from which he was given a medical discharge. After marrying Lou Anna Bauer (Ann Denison) in 1950, he got his private pilot's license and they moved to Lakewood, CA when he was hired by Douglas Aircraft. Jim, Ann and Steve moved to Long Beach in 1963. He graduated from what is now CSULB and earned his Master's Degree. After leaving Douglas Aircraft, he taught one year at Woodrow Wilson High School, then transferred to Robert A. Millikan High School teaching Architectural Drafting and Auto Shop for 23 years. During summer vacations and after retirement in 1986, Jim and Ann traveled the world, visiting locations on all 7 Continents. He is survived by Ann, Steve; daughter-in-law, Susan (Stead) and Jim's canine son, Max; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. As the last of what the family lovingly termed "The Denison 7," Jim now joins all 6 of his brothers (Raymond, Ralph, Jack and Ron) and sisters (Velma and Mary Etta) who preceded him in death. Also, he will be met at Rainbow Bridge by his beloved canine "kids," Monika (Moe-neek-ah) and Cindy Lou. He will be missed and was loved by the many people whose lives he touched. There will be a Memorial Service to celebrate his life on March 22nd. For more information regarding the Memorial, email Ann at: LAnnD4animals@charter.net.
