Kotchick, Joseph Robert
Joseph Robert Kotchick, better known as Bob, passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease on June 18, 2013 at the age of 86 in Arcadia, Ca.
Bob was born on January 31, 1927 in Endicott, NY but moved to Los Angeles County with his parents during the late 1940's. He bought his only home in Arcadia in 1954. That home was his castle!
Bob was a Marine Pilot in the Korean War, flying a Corsair fighter/bomber and was decorated with a Distinguished
Flying Cross for extraordinary conduct. He considered himself a Marine forever.
He graduated from Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles in 1960 and went on to work for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office. Three years later he moved on into private practice, where he stayed the rest of his career in the El Monte, Arcadia and San Gabriel areas. Later when his nephew Peter J Meeka passed the bar exam, they practiced law together, for 10 years. Their association ended after Peter became a judge. Bob loved the law!
Bob's first marriage was to Jean, who he married in 1954. Jean passed away in 1967. He later went on to marry Betty in 1972 who he had 3 stepchildren with, David Neighbors, Barry Neighbors and Wade Allen. Wade passed away in 1995 followed by Betty's death in 1997.
Bob was an avid hunter who loved the outdoors. His living room at home was his trophy room and it was a sight to see.
Bob is survived by his nephew Peter J Meeka, wife Darlene Meeka and their children Darren Meeka, Emily Finnerty and Missy Meeka. He is also survived by his sister Arlene Charma, sister Joyce Logsdon and her children Bill Logsdon, Robert Logsdon and Patty Mollenhauer, brother Eugene Kotchick and his children Cherie Brisson, Kimrey Kotchick and Joey Kotchick, niece Sally Ferguson and her children Debbie Ferguson, Robin Miller, Darrell Ferguson and Christy Looper, niece Irene Alfrey and her children Terri Crum, Melinda Alfrey, Jamie Alfrey and Pamela Hubler (deceased 2012), niece Janeen Newland and her children Kelli Kinsley and Jennifer Trentz.
He will be greatly missed by all family and friends.
