Opal Lois Turner Robertson was born on October 27, 1925 on a farm near Carnegie, Oklahoma to Martin and Lillie Belle Turner. She had four siblings: Delmer, Verma, Bruce, and younger brother Lester, who was lost in action in the Korean Conflict, something that Lois never forgot. The Turner's were hard working farmers and she loved to regale us with the trials and stories of farm life during the depression years.
Her brother Bruce set out west for California, and at age 18, Lois followed. There, on blind date, she met a handsome young man named Frederick Leslie Robertson. They were married in a small restaurant on Painter Avenue in Whittier on January 17, 1945. They moved into their honeymoon
cottage in Whittier, and then went to La Habra in 1951 where they settled into their lifetime home.
After 68 marvelous years together, with a house in Three Rivers, time shares in Pismo Beach and Cancun, along with travels to various parts of the world, she fulfilled her lifestyle wish of experiencing the world with her husband, Fred.
Lois loved to entertain and cook! Most holidays and events were held in the Robertson household. The women could cook anything. She was always ready with a pot of "Cheesy Potato Soup" if you were sick, and her Thanksgiving Dinners were something everyone looked forward to. She adored her VERY dry martinis and was always willing to offer one to anyone that would have one.
Lois' other life compassions were quilting, sewing, and crocheting. She made many lovely quilts that she gave away with love to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the community. She even sewed the grandchildren sock monkeys!! Lois was an avid member of the "Friendship Quilt Guild."
Lois enjoyed her many friends and co-workers. She was an engineer assistant at Beckman Coulter Industries for over 30 years, retiring in 1981 to enjoy a life of leisure, travel, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Lois is survived by her husband, Fred, her two sons, Craig (Kathy) and Cliff (Kim), four granddaughters, Leslie, Lisa, Erin and Courtney, four great-grandchildren, Kellie Arthur, Katie Neil, Abigail Arthur, and her 6 week old namesake, Kieryn Opal Norlander (who she was able to hold prior to her being called home by the Lord). These people were a very large blessing and meant the world to Lois.
