NORMAN SILBERNAGEL Valentine Norman Silbernagel died at his residence on S aturday, July 4, 2009. Born on July 21, 1930 in Newark, New Jersey, Buddie (as he was known to his family) served in the U.S. Navy as a quartermaster signalman. A lover of history, he graduated from Montclair State Teachers College as a history teacher, but devoted his life to the business of finance, which culminated with his own company, Valentine Financial. Val is survived by his wife, Dolores, with whom he celebrated 58 years of marriage on April 21; and his six children and their spouses: Mi chael and Karen Silbernagel, Randy and Valerie Schultz, Christopher and Victoria McCarty, Ryan and Molly Silbernagel, Vincent and Kyle Colavitti, and Weston and Samantha Tischler. Val's beloved grandchildren are: Olivia Silbernagel; Morgan, Zoe, Raven and Mariah Schultz; Brennan, Colin, Ian and Fiona McCarty; Erica, Ava and Reed Silbernagel; Jonas Colavitti; and Baby Tischler, who will arrive in September. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Bernardine of Siena Catholic Church in Woodland Hills. 10:00 a.m., on Friday, July 10, 2009, with burial to follow at Oakwood Memorial Park in Chatsworth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Providence Holy Cross Foundation in Val's memory. His volunteer work on the board of Holy Cross Medical Center for over twenty years was close to his heart.
