Margaret Magdalena Corona Obituary
Margaret Magdalena Corona
May 29 1933 - May 3 2012
Passed away early Thursday morning after a long struggle with cancer. Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Pedro Martinez and Leonides Apodaca. She was married to Benigno R. Vaca for 20 years until his early death at the age of 40 in 1970; and to Rudolph Corona for 10 years until his death in 2000. Due to a progressive loss of hearing and blindness which began in her mid-30's, Margaret left her profession as a dental assistant and was unable to participate in favorite activities, such as reading, crosswords, and playing cards. Despite these challenges, Margaret was a spirited and energetic person. She loved to dance, socialize, and was always "on the go." She was a member of the San Bernardino Elks Emblem Club.
Margaret lives on in the hearts of her daughters, Alisha Serrano (Riverside) and Elizabeth Fujii (Sacramento); grandchildren Aaron and Angela Serrano (San Bernardino), Lauren and Angel Fuentes (Sacramento), Gregory Wahnon (Berkeley); great-grandchildren Ian and Isaac Fuentes (Sacramento), Rodney and Gavin Serrano (San Bernardino); brother and sister-in-law Pete and Ernestine Martinez, Jr. (San Bernardino), niece Joanne Williams (Highland), and so many other relatives and close friends.
Our most sincere appreciation to three exceptionally wonderful caregivers who assisted our mother over the past year: Cece, Cristina, and Sonya. You were a blessing to our mother and she appreciated and loved you. Thanks also to Charter Hospice. We are so grateful for all you did to ease her suffering.
In keeping with Margaret's wishes, there will be no memorial service. To honor her memory, donations can be made to the in her name.
