William Scheuermann Obituary

Scheuermann, William Carl

William Carl Scheuermann, 94, went to the Lord on September 30, 2012. William was born in Denver, Colorado on October 26, 1917 to William Karl and Eva Gangl Scheuermann. Growing up in the
Denver area, he spent many days hiking and skiing in the Rocky Mountains with the Colorado Mountain Club. He married Maxine Russell in Denver in 1949. William was educated at the University of Denver and became a chemist in the rubber technology industry. William's career started at Gates Rubber in Denver during WWII. After that he moved to Chicago where he worked for Chicago Rawhide and to Whittier in 1955. In California he worked for many years for PARCO in Ontario. William was a member of the American Chemical Society for 66 years and an active member of the Los Angeles Area Rubber Group where he served as chairman in 1985. He was also a long time member of the M&M/ Challengers Class at the First United Methodist Church in Whittier and the Y's Men at the Whittier YMCA. His interests included golfing, fishing and world travel. William was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Maxine. He is survived by his daughter, Julie of Alta Loma, CA, son, John, daughter-in-law, Lee and grandchildren, James and Elise of Montecito, CA. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 3rd at 2pm at the First United Methodist Church of Whittier, located at 13222 Bailey Street, Whittier. A reception will follow. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the YMCA of Greater Whittier.
