Owen T. Wilkinson Obituary
WILKINSON, Owen, T.
82, Investment Counselor & Patriarch

Owen T. Wilkinson passed away on March 28, 2013. He was a family man, a professional investment counselor, an avid golfer and a man of exceptional integrity.
He was born in Los Angeles, the youngest of four children, where he lived until his father moved the family to San Marino when he was eight years old. He attended and graduated from the San Marino School system in 1949. He then attended Pomona College and graduated in 1953 with a major in economics. He met his future wife, Sharee Sommer, at college and they were married two years later in 1955. Due to his great interest in economics he wrote his Pomona thesis on the stock market where it was passed on and read by the President of Wagenseller and Durst who then hired him. He went to work as a stock broker at White Weld & Co. in 1971. He later became a shareholder and vice president at White Weld & Co. Kidder Peabody bought out White Weld where Owen worked also. He became a shareholder in 1978. He started his own company, Owen T. Wilkinson & Associates Investment Counselor in 1985; where he loved serving his clients and working with his employees, many of whom looked to him as a second father, until his retirement in 2012.
Owen became a junior member of San Gabriel Country Club in 1954 then a regular member in 1966. He was elected to the board of directors during the 1970s and became President in 1981 and 1982. He became Chairman of the Rules Committee at SGCC in 1988. Owen loved golf and became a volunteer Rules Official in 1989 with the Southern California Golf Association until retiring from the group in 2011.
Owen was the beloved husband, father of two children,
Cindy, born in 1956 and Steve born in 1960. We shall miss our dear Owen tremendously and wish him rest in peace. A memorial will be held on Sunday April 21, 2013 at San Gabriel Country Club from 2pm to 5pm. Memorial donations can be made to either the Huntington Hospital, 100 W.
