Richard Aaron Wirz
Born September 1, 1961 passed away Friday, April 19, 2013 at the age of 51 after a long time illness and heart condition. A current resident of Colton for the past 10 years, Richard or "Rick" as he was known by family and friends was a native of Redlands , and a graduate of Redlands High School, Rick also attended both San Bernardino Valley College, and the University of Riverside majoring in Chemistry. Rick was an active member of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Trap and Skeet Club where he enjoyed shooting as a hobby.
Rick worked for several years in the food service industry; he worked and managed a Redlands landmark eatery known as "Gay 90's for several years. He then changed careers and began working in the commercial paper industry, working in both the warehouse and delivery. After several years Rick worked his way into the Sale's Department where he sold both commercial paper and printing prior to retiring due to his illness.
Rick was preceded in death by his mother Patricia Wirz. Rick is survived by his loving Father Gayle Wirz along Gayle's significant other Nanette Roeder and her two sons Josh and Edward Roeder of Colton. Rick is also survived by two older brothers and their families. His oldest brother Fred Wirz and his wife Karen, and three children, Katie, Matt, and Patrick all from the Yucaipa area. Along with his next older brother Mike Wirz and his wife Treasa and their family which includes Gabrielle, Catheryn and Michael Jr. and great nephew Cameron and great niece Zoe all from the San Bernardino area.
The family has scheduled a public viewing at Cortner's Mortuary Chapel located at 221 Brookside Ave, in Redlands on Monday April 29th, 2013 between 5 P.M and 8 P.M. All family members and friends are welcome to attend. A Funeral service will be held the following day at Brookside Free Methodist Church located at 75 Tennessee Street in Redlands on Tuesday April 30th at 10 A.M. following the funeral service there will be a brief graveside service held at his place of internment at the Montecito Memorial Park located at 3520 E. Washington St. Colton at about 11:30 A.M.
The family is asking that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the or Kaiser Hospital Intensive Care Unit on behalf of Richard Wirz.
