Glenn Mirick Obituary

Glenn R. Mirick, 64, of Abington passed away peacefully at home on July 9, 2013, surrounded by family and friends he loved so dearly. He was a resident of Quincy most of his life, and attended the Lutheran Church of the God Shepard, in Montclair. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents Virginia L. and Laurence F. Mirick. He is survived by his wife and best friend Melinda Mirick, his three sons, Peter James and his wife Karen Mirick of Florida, Seth Mirick and wife Erin, Sean Mirick and his beautiful daughter Holly Mirick. He had several grandchildren, Melisa, Justin, Martin, Katlyn, and one great grandchild Alexia. He also survived by his brothers Laurence Mirick and his wife Beverley of Braintree, Kenneth MIrick and his wife Deborah of Yorktown Va., Wayne Mirick and his wife Maryrose of Weymouth, and a cousin (who was more like a sister) Marian Ciccariella of Braintree. Glenn also had lots of nephews and nieces that loved him a great deal. Glenn had no enemies and was the first one to step in if a stranger needed a helping hand or a place to stay. Two rescue dogs were also part of his family. He enjoyed the simple things in life like fly fishing with his friend Bob. He loved family get-togethers at Wayne and Maryroses house in Weymouth. Glenn would take in any animal that was hurt of injured, and nurse it back to health. He had a heart of gold. He was most proud of his family, and the joy they shared doing things together. A private service was held at Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home in Rockland. The family would especially like to thank Magoun Biggins Funeral Home, Old Colony Chapter of Hospice (Randolph), and Pastor Nathan Pipho of The Lutheran Church of the Good Sheppard for their professionalism, compassion and support in this time of grief. Glenn is at peace now and resting with the Lord. As Glenn would say, A gracious goodbye.

May God watch over all of you as the days go by after losing such a wonderful man. Glenn was unique, he was loving, funny, always had a smile on his face. He brought home every animal he found to help it recover, thrive and be his friend. I will always miss you and forever keep you in my heart. I know God has given you good things to do up there in Heaven. Probably being a "vet" to all the lost animals that have gone over that Rainbow Bridge! Mindy and family never forget all your good times with Glenn, he is watching over all of you now.
