Elizabeth Betty (Webber) (Collins) Belyea, 95, of Abington passed away Thursday, August 28, after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Richard Collins and Arthur Belyea. Betty was born in New London, Conn., daughter of the late Charles and Kathryn (Dutton) Webber. She was a graduate of Milton High School and the School of Domestic Science in Boston. Betty was a longtime resident of Abington for more than 60 years. She was the assistant treasurer of the former Abington Savings Bank for many years and a member of the First Baptist Church of Abington. She was a past president of the Abington Womens Club and the Abington Garden Club and was involved in the Cub Scouts and DeMolay Mothers. She also volunteered at South Shore Hospital after her retirement. She is survived by her children, Samuel Collins of Norwell and Charles Collins of Abington, and the late Brinton Belyea of Virginia; her grandchildren, Dana and Robin Belyea and Richard Collins; and her great-grandsons, Joshua and Evan Belyea. Her funeral service was held Thursday, September 4, at 11 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Abington, followed by a burial in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Abington. Her visitation was held Wednesday, September 3, from 4-8 p.m. in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 at the rotary), Whitman.
