Karin Whitten Obituary

Karin J. (Johnson) Whitten of Rockland, passed away on May 26, 2018, at the age of 49. Loving wife of Donald. Karin was born July 17, 1968 to Deborah (Calder) Johnson of Duxbury and the late John Johnson. She was raised and educated in Hanover. Karin worked as the Athletic Trainer at Hanover High School for 15 years, retiring to pursue teaching. Most recently, she was a tutor at Abington High School. She coached for Rockland Youth Soccer for 6 years, coaching both her children. For many years, she served on the Board of Directors for Camp Agawam in Raymond, Maine. Karin was passionate about camping and youth development. She enjoyed crafts of all kinds, including quilting, painting, paper crafts, cards and scrap books. Family was the most important thing to Karin. She is also survived by her cherished children, Jenna (14) and Jonathan (11), beloved step-mother Dorothy "Dottie" Johnson of Kingston and dear brother Charles Johnson of Maine. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St., Rte. 53, Hanover, on Tuesday, May 29, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. A funeral service held in the funeral home on Wednesday, May 30, at 11a.m. Burial will be private.
