Walter L. Harriman, 85, of Rockland died July 6, 2013, at South Shore Hospital. He was born, raised and educated in Laconia, N.H. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force at the age of sixteen and proudly served his country throughout the United States and in Iceland for 22 years. After his discharge, he worked as a computer programmer for the Honeywell Corporation in Billerica for 20 years. After he retired he worked with his wife Rosina Rose M. (Sassi) Harriman at Roses Thrift Shop on Union Street in Rockland. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Kathy M. Harriman-Spear of Marshfield and Denise A. Richardson and her husband Ricky of Rockland. He was the grandfather of Jason J. and Marc W. Richardson and Melia K. and Sarah W. Spear. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Betty Laurent, Robert Harriman and Albert Harriman. A celebration of his life was held at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union St., Rockland, Wednesday, July 10, 2013, from 5-8 p.m. A funeral Mass was celebrated Thursday, July 11, 2013, in Holy Family Church, 403 Union St., Rockland, at 9 a.m. Burial with military honors followed in Holy Family Cemetery.
