John J. Flynn, 85, a lifelong resident of Rockland, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. The son of the late William and Helen (Kilgrew) Flynn, he was born in Brockton on November 2, 1927. John proudly served his country in the Army during WWII and was later employed as an Accountant at the former Gerrity Lumber Company for 39 years. He was the loving husband of Mary Teresa (Tierney) Flynn, devoted father of Anne Marie Bennett and her husband Bill of Rockland, Maura Flynn of Weymouth, John Flynn Jr. and his wife Christie of Methuen and the late Kathleen Flynn. Cherished grandfather of Matthew Bennett, Jack Flynn, Emma Flynn, and Leah Flynn. He was the brother of the late Joseph and Mary Flynn, Robert and Evelyn Flynn and William Flynn. Also survived by his sister-in-law Brenda Flynn of Sandwich and several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours were in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 45 East Water St. in Rockland on Thursday, May 9, from 5 - 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, May 10, at 11:30 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 403 Union St. in Rockland.
