Fred William Livingston, 79, of Rockland, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2013. Born on January 21, 1934 in Boston, he was the son of the late William F. and Marie A. (Ryan) Livingston. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 38 years, Geraldine L. (Melanson) Livingston and his brother William G. Livingston of San Francisco, CA. Loving father of Darlene A. Palmer and her husband Bruce A. Palmer of Plymouth, David W. of New York, NY and Gary W. of Rockland; Brother to Patricia A. of Plymouth; Grandfather of Curtis W. Livingston of Rockland, and Alyson K. Palmer of Plymouth. Fred grew up in Jamaica Plain where he received his high school diploma. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a computer Programmer for GTE Sylvania in Needham for 30 Years as well as a Rockland Auxiliary Police officer for thirteen years. Fred was also a mainstay with the Defenders Drum and Bugle Corps as a manager, Quartermaster and equipment truck driver for over 20 years. He had a passion for sports, ballroom dancing (where he met his wife Gerry), trains and drum corps. The family welcomed friends and relatives to share in his burial service with Military Honors on Thursday, September 12, 2013 in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. The Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union St. in Rockland is honored to be assisting the family.
