Paul T. Hoff, of Acton, MA, died Sat. June 22, 2013 at his home surrounded by family following a battle with cancer. He was 83. He was the husband of Carolyn A. (Connolly) Hoff, with whom he shared 47 years of marriage. Paul was born in Meriden, CT on December 14, 1929, the fourth child of the late Theodore and Ruby A. (Clark) Hoff. After serving in the US Army
Intelligence Corps, he entered the University of Connecticut and graduated with a degree in electrical engineering. Throughout his career Paul was employed as an electrical engineer in several companies including Honeywell, Control Data and Underwood, as well as several local start-up companies. Paul loved the Boy Scouts and was an active Scout in his childhood, then as an adult leader for Pack 70 and Troop 1 Acton, MA, and later as a Commissioner for the Nashua Valley Council. Paul was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church in Sudbury, MA. He was involved in the local community, volunteering as Acton's Celebrations Committee Chair, working on the Scouters of the Isaac Davis Trail, and was named an honorary member of the Acton Minutemen. He was a pilot and member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA). In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Stephen Hoff and wife Kathryn Flinner of Lowell, and Christopher Hoff and wife Andrea of Chelmsford. He also leaves three beloved grandchildren, Krya Hoff of Chelmsford, Nicholas and Elizabeth Hoff of Lowell, as well as many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours were held Mon. June 24th from 4:00-8:00pm at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rte 111) Acton. The funeral service was held Tues. June 25th at 10:00am in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 16 Great Road (Rte 117) Sudbury.
